A leaky faucet is often caused by a worn cartridge, and is one of the most common home issues in Ontario homes. Luckily, it’s usually easy to fix without calling a plumber.

Cartridges allow the control of the flow of water
Step‑by‑Step Fix
- Turn off the water supply under the sink.
- Plug the drain so small parts don’t fall in.
- Remove the faucet handle using a screwdriver.
- Carefully unscrew the old cartridge, turning counter clockwise
- Buy similar replacement cartridge at Hardware store
- Install the new cartridge and tighten everything back.
When to Call a Pro– If the faucet still leaks after replacing the cartridge, the valve seat may be damaged. At that point a new set of taps and/ or a plumber might be required
